Lesson 10

Liberty: Creating Rhythmic Variety

TECH CHECK INSTRUCTIONS:

One of the most basic parts of improvisation is changing the rhythm of the lead. Liberty is a great tune to try this with, as the first measure is all quarter notes and can be changed quite easily. One of the most widely accepted rhythms in fiddle improvisation is the triplet. Try it here on a basic scale. Then try alternating triplets with other rhythms like quarter notes or eighth notes.
