Lesson 8

Golden Slippers: Twin Fiddling

TECH CHECK INSTRUCTIONS:

Twin fiddling is the practice of two or more players playing in harmony together. Many bands have used this stage technique, from Bob Wills to the Hot Club of Cowtown. It can be a dizzingly fun way of playing with someone else and we will look at this technique using Golden Slippers. Keep in mind that for the most part, the notes in a twin part should travel in the same direction and are often a third apart. Check out the excerpt from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony below for a good example of twin fiddling. Then find a friend and try it out together! Music is best when it is shared!
